When Lynn was growing up in the Midwest, he knew music would be a part of his life. It wasn’t one event in particular that instilled in him a love of music creation. It was a culmination of experiences, like attending his first rock concert in junior high and “borrowing” his older brother’s 80s collection of vinyl and cassettes. The rest, as they say, is history.
Before Lynn moved to Nashville to focus on mixing, he already had a decade and a half of experience in the music industry and it shows. When Lynn is mixing, he brings a focus that is the perfect balance of creativity and technological prowess. It’s the sweet spot for a mix engineer, especially when it comes to mixing in the Dolby Atmos format.
Even after becoming an award-winning mix engineer, Lynn’s not flashy. Just ask his wife and two daughters and they’ll tell you that most days you can find him in his black t-shirt and jeans, listening. Because that’s what he does best, whether it’s listening to the person sitting in front of him or to a piece of music that he’s working on. You might even say that he disappears into his work so that he can make the music stand out. It’s not about him. It’s about the process and the creation of something new.
When he’s not mixing in his Nashville studio, he’s on the Jeep trails, camping, or chilling with his family. Just like in his work, he enjoys perfecting processes, so ask him about how to brew a perfect cup of coffee, how to mix a balanced cocktail, or just ask him about the last thing he learned. He’ll gladly share his knowledge, which is exactly why he’s been respected in the music industry for over 25 years.
